Program Overview

A school of 38 students from Japan will come to the Big Island and Oahu, and will collaborate with 7 local high school students at 7 Islanders (local college student leaders). The program's theme is on SUSTAINABILITY.

Local Students

LbE Hawaii is seeking (7) local high school students (age 14~18) to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime program. The program is completely free and covered by LbE Hawaii. These student participants will be paired up with a group consisting of around 7~8 participants consisting of around 5~6 Japanese students and 1 Islander.

 Theme

Mission: To inspire our future generations in discovering their kuleana in restoring the circular balance of humanity and the natural world through learning the complex interconnections of island sustainability. Learn more about the Kuleana Program here: https://www.kuleanashep.com/

Program Goal: Each group will conduct research by going on various field trips, collecting data, and eventually creating a video portfolio of the findings. Each group will then need to present the video portfolio to all. The main goal is to discover what each person's kuleana (responsibility) in taking action towards solving sustainable issues.
