Volunteering at a Community Garden in Kauaʻi
We are happy to introduce a community garden in Kīlauea, on the Hawaiian island of Kauaʻi, called 'Āina Ho'okupu O Kīlauea. This non profit organization allows volunteers in the community to mālama (or take care) the garden while learning about the solutions to economic, social, and agricultural food insecurity challenges that the greater Kīlauea community faces.
Volunteers may have the opportunity to mālama including but not limited to:
planting
harvesting
weeding
cultivating the soil
To get involved, you can volunteer at the garden every Tuesday and Saturday from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. You can take home fresh produce for free at the end of your work day, so long you stay for the full four hours.
