In this video you could see SDG 14, which focuses on Life below Water.
Water is the most important resource we have and is the basis of all life on earth. It is so important that many people throughout history have referred it to as “The Elixir of Life”. By polluting our lands and not taking care our trash, rivers act as a form of conveyor belt transporting the trash into the seas.
This destroys not only the life within the oceans but also has detrimental effects on life outside. As the reefs and algae in the oceans are dying, they stop to produce the one other resource we need to live: Oxygen. As the oceans are the largest source of oxygen we have, it is crucial to protect them as much as we can.
One easy way was shown in the video above by cleaning up a beach. Through preventing rivers from having any trash to transport into the ocean, we can easily make it a lot better. All we need to do is go into our neighborhoods, parks, fields, and shorelines and pick up a little trash. An easy way to be more involved with taking care of the community is to spend more time outdoors, instead of indoors.
Check out how easy it is to participate in a cleanup event in our Global Community Resources in the Land/Water categories!
